My son, Jake Haldenwang, is a 13-year-old blues guitarist who delivers searing guitar solos with an intensity that belies his youth. His performances combine a variety of influences with a powerful feeling that is uncanny for someone so young. Jake’s passion is writing music and playing his guitar, to date he has written seven originals songs. This is a video of Jake playing an instrumental version of “Little Wing” accompanied by fellow band member, bass player, Sean Hickey. Jake started playing guitar at age11 and was performing for a live audience by the time he was 12. This year, Jake has been honored as the chosen youth guitarist, to represent the Charlotte, NC. Region at the 25th, 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. This is a great privilege, as the International Blues Challenge is the largest and most prestigious showcase of blues artist’s and industry executives in the nation. Jake has spent a good majority of this year playing for Charities and Festivals with his own all adult band. Jake also plays with other top bands in the South East and has had the honor of playing on stage with several national recording artists including: The Tommy Castro Band, Robin Rogers and Mac Arnold, (the bassist for Legendary Blues Man, Muddy Waters).
